Is Flour Glue Harmful?
I recently made a volcano shaped burrow box to fit inside my tropical hamster cage it looks great (if I do say so myself ) and made it by flour glueing balls of paper together in a cone, coating it with thin strips of paper for a smooth finish and painting it in hamster safe non-toxic paint.
However the two dwarves I gave it to have suddenly started chewing on part of the volcano, they've got through the painted layers and are now through to the balls. Surely that much flour glue and paper can't be safe for them?

Re: Is Flour Glue Harmful?
If they're eating it then I would take it out, a tiny bit probably wouldn't hurt but if they keep at it then it won't be good for them.
I'm not a fan of flour glue anyway, if it gets damp it can go mouldy so I wouldn't use it.

Re: Is Flour Glue Harmful?
I'd worry more about the paint than the glue.Even if it's considered hamster safe and labelled non toxic that's hardly a guarantee of safety(there's likely artificial dyes and numerous chemicals, which over time can cause health problems). With a good flour glue you at least know it shouldn't have any harmful dyes or chemicals, and while it could technically go off over time it's still quite safe with appropriate precautions(unlike the overwhelming majority of paints, even so called water based ones).
