Question Newspaper?

Hello, fellow hammy lovers
I'm here to ask a question that has probably been asked before (has been asked before.) Is newspaper safe? All of the information I find contradicts each other.
I started to make a paper-mache hideout for Spunky, and having no spare plain paper, I used newspaper. Mainly advertisements, because my parents hadn't sifted through to find what they wanted to read. I made a safe paper mache glue, (1/8 cup flour, 1/8 cup corn starch, 1/2 cup water) so hopefully I don't need to worry about that part.
I have found out what type of ink my newspaper uses. The color ink is soy based, but the black ink is petroleum based. The opposite of what I expected, truthfully.
So which newspaper is safe(est)? Color, black-and-white, ads? Please leave an answer before you leave! Thanks

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think the black petroleum based ink would be safe if ingested. If you could find a newspaper which used only safe inks, that would probably be fine, but I'm not sure if there are any out there. Sorry not to be able to help you in finding one.

Newspaper is just not a good idea period.Use plain paper in the future and discard this one, especially with the petroleum based ink You could add color to the plain paper versions once they're dried by using natural DIY berry dyes.

Okay, I won't use the newspaper anymore.
I'll use plain brown paper instead (like a sack lunch sorta paper.)
Luckily I didn't get very far with the newspaper

You can use unscented toilet paper and a flour and water glue/paste or a non toxic glue.

Newspaper ink is soy based (in a good majority of countries) which is safe. Still, I wouldn't recommend it. There aren't yet enough conclusive studies proving that it's safe or unsafe, thus its best to avoid it. Plain toilet tissue often works the best
