Re: Hamster mouth tumor or abscess please help
Thank you BorisPasha and AprilPearl! And Serendipity7000 thank you I know to me he looks like a baby still haha. And wow your hamster must have been a strong little one! Sorry for your loss. I have bought Ginger the round balls that you can let them run around the house in but they have two separate lids that are open so he can come in and out as he pleases when he is in his cage. Only reason I buy him those is because they are quite big and they are the ONLY ones he likes. He gets a bunch of bedding and puts it in there and sleeps, i dont know i think it just makes him feel safe. He has never been highly active even when he was very young... I have literally tried all types of toys and wheels he is just not interested.

Re: Hamster mouth tumor or abscess please help
Have you considered a playpen instead of a ball for him? I find with hamsters that are not particularly active, they tend to prefer the freedom a play pen gives to explore or sit and groom on their own terms. It also provides more mental stimulation.
The best play pen I have found is the Arizona skyline ranch from Zooplus:

Whenever I read an update on your little warrior Ginger, I have a huge grin on my face. Happy Belated Birthday to your little boy.

Re: Hamster mouth tumor or abscess please help
I bet he'd be interested in a 12" silent runner They are very easy to run in and slightly enclosed - plus silent. Hammies seem to love them. A bigger wheel is more comfortable for them to run in. It's quite an expensive wheel though and a cage needs to be tall enough to fit it in (it's 35cm tall on its stand). I have mine attached to the bars.

Re: Hamster mouth tumor or abscess please help
Hi everyone, I haven’t been posting for a while as I have been busy with my uni work .. I’m happy to announce that Ginger is still a healthy boy! His tumour has not come back and although he is old he is very happy and lively. He reminds me everyday that miracles can happen!

What a strong little boy! So lucky that he has you, who will never give up on him. That vet is such a genius and warm-hearted person! Ginger is a lucky and strong boy!!! He must felt your heart and endless love that he himself holds it on all the time hoping to show his love back to you!!
What a lovely story, almost tearing...
