Question Hamster with ringworm What to do with toys?

So my hamster was diagnosed as having ringworm the other day and I'mcleaning his cage out today and was wondering if anyone knew if I'm supposed to throw away his toys and bits that I can't really wash like cardboard boxes, wooden chews and wooden bendy bridges?

Your hammy was born with this & it just became a problem. I had a dwarf who the vet said carried ring worm on a skin scrape & she said it would show up later in its life..

Don't worry, ring worm is not literally a worm. You may need to wear gloves now. I'm not sure about what you need to do. Did you take it to the vet for a diagnosis? The vet should be able to give you instructions?

Also, other members might have experience with this...

Yes I took him to the vet and the vet told us he had ringworm and we are feeding him the medication everyday and washing our hands every time after we touch him. I didn't think to ask about his wooden and cardboard toys though and the vet didn't say anything herself.

Throw them away. Fungal spores will often live on objects until a host (ie you or your hamster) touches it, and then the fungus grows. After he's better, I'd just throw away anything that can't be washed or is porous. This may even mean doing a near complete cage cleaning as well. Ringworm isn't fun, just get rid of it now so it doesn't linger and spread. Toys are pretty inexpensive anyways, you can always get new ones Make sure you're taking extreme precautions to avoid handling, ringworm is highly contagious. Good luck, hope he feels better soon
