I hope all goes well for Ginny. I've been doing some research on Algepristone in updating my website and it sounds interesting.

Thanks everyone. I really hope we are approved for the aglepristone. We should find out tomorrow.

Ginny did lose more weight since Friday, but has kept stable now. I'm hoping the weight she's lost has been from discharge.

She's certainly not feeling herself, but she seemed quite content last evening, so I'm being cautiously (and hopefully) optimistic.

Ginny has put back on 2g; no discharge from her vents this morning. She finished the last of the Sulfa TMZ which I wasn't overly pleased about because I'd prefer to keep her on them longer... I may see about getting another script for them.

I'm going to keep her on the meloxicam and marbofloxacin until we heard back about the aglepristone and have her seen. Still nothing, which is making me nervous.

Last night though she was very bright looking and was hopping around her cage with her ears up. I hope that's a sign she's feeling a bit more herself!

We got approved for the aglepristone! The bacterial culture showed she had three bacterias present that are susceptible to the Sulfa, and luckily my friends at Hathor Hamstery live around the corner from our vet and were happy to pick up the meds for her. She's back on the Sulfa.

She's dropped a bit more weight unfortunately but seems bright even still. The aglepristone treatment happens Friday - there is only one vet who is authorised to perform the medication administration.

I'm... nervous. But I know it's the best chance she has.

Sorry Ginny's having such a hard time with this, she sounds like a real little trooper & I really hope the new meds help her.

So, Ginny got down as low at 138g. We had said we would euthanize if she got to be about 120g, because she was feeling VERY skinny.

She started gaining a bit more a couple weeks back and was about 146g before her first dose of Aglepristone, last Wednesday. We met our new vet, Dr. Kline, who was wonderful. He let me hold her for the injection and she did so so well. She had a second injection 24 hours later on Thursday.

Today, Ginny clocked in at 167g on our scale, looks brighter, happier, and is much more active. I couldn't be more thrilled.

She has one final dose of Aglepristone this coming Thursday, which Hathor Hamstery will be taking her to as I'll be at work. I'm so so pleased, especially as I was at the point of wrapping my head around putting her to sleep.

So sorry you even had to consider having her PTS. I can't imagine what you've gone through with all of this- it sounds so stressful. I'm so happy to hear she's gained weight, hang in there Ginny! Let us know how she continues progressing, and good luck with the Aglepristone

So pleased to hear she's doing so much better, it is awful when you have to even think about having a ham PTS & I can imagine what a relief it must be now.
Hope she continues to thrive now.
