WW weak, sleepy and back leg issues
Hey everyone,
One of my Ww is lethargic won't sleep in her igloo, is cold, and seems to be having trouble moving around, and has been peeing herself.
She's around 2 years old, female, has access to fresh water and food, plenty of space to run around, has a closed type plastic wheel with no gaps or holes, and a slide that leads up to her wheel.
we've warmed her up and tried to hand give her water. She perked up and washed her face for a millasecond, but I think it was to get some water off her face. I'm not sure if actually drank some water.
She was in her igloo last night. Three days ago she had run in her wheel for at least a brief moment. But sometime last week I found her laying out in the middle of her cage and not moving. I nudged her lightly and she growled (not unusual for her) at me a scampered normally away.
Any suggestions as to whats going on? Or any other info?
At the moment I'm thinking its old age related.

Re: WW weak, sleepy and back leg issues
It sounds as though she may be nearing the end of her time to me. 2 years is a good age for a hamster. It's not unusual for a hamster who is old to begin displaying these kinds of symptoms. Check to see if she's dehydrated- this can be accomplished by pinching the skin gently and seeing how long it takes to settle back into place. If it takes longer than a second, she needs more water. You'll need to offer a rehydration formula if she is dehydrated (which is often a problem in elderly hamsters). You may want to consult a vet regarding what the best course of action may be. Best wishes

Re: WW weak, sleepy and back leg issues
As drago mentioned she may just be nearing the end. Two years is a ripe old age. The lump could possibly be a tumor or an abscess.
Drago gave great advice on the hydration test. Best wishes x

Re: WW weak, sleepy and back leg issues
Thanks guys,
I did some more research and found that tumors/cancer are very common in dwarves. I made sure she got plenty of water (including some with a little honey in it).
Sadly she passed about 15 minutes ago.
Thanks for being in my life little Brier-rose <3
