Default Hamster not chewing chew toys

Hi, I'm new.
My djungarian dwarf hamham Honey absolutely will not bite nor chew on any of her chew toys, she's had the options of a salt chew, willow sticks, wooden houses, grape wood, some weird hay like chew toy and even toilet paper tubes.
And when her teeth were short she wouldn't crack the sunflower seeds open, could she maybe not know how to crack/bite things open? I can't keep dropping $300 every month for her teeth trimming.
Any solid suggestions without the risk of her getting diabetes?

Thank you in advance.

Hello, you will most likely get a better response if you create your own thread on this

Most hamsters don't really tend to chew on wood or pumice in all honesty. It's good to offer it, but they seldom will have a good gnaw at it. Salt chews should be avoided if possible as your hamster doesn't really need any extra salt. Hamsters really don't need vet performed teeth trims unless their teeth are extremely overgrown or they suffer from malocclusion. Just keep an eye on it's growth, but generally they're good at keeping their teeth down. Whimzees are excellent things to offer- they're vegetarian and diabetes friendly dog chews that hamsters love. I'll link a package below

Welcome to HC btw!

Has the vet said why her teeth need clipping?
It sounds to me as though she probably does have a malocclusion if she can't open a sunflower seed when her teeth have been clipped, does she manage to eat her dry mix ok?
If she does have a malocclusion then her teeth will never meet in a way that allows her to use them normally & wear them down so regular clipping is the only answer really.

Sorry that I cannot help more, but have you tried whimzees? They are a type of edible dog chew which are safe for hamsters. My Mushu chews on his whimzee much more than his wooden chew toys.

Edit: just seen that Drago attached a link to whimzees. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes. You might want to buy the smallest stick shape - it is probably the best size and shape for a dwarf’s small mouth.
