Both my Syrians did that, and my robo does too a little. It's completely normal, I think it's just a thing they do.

Does he display any other symptoms? Does it sound more like clucking or like a wheezing type noise? Most likely, it's a completely natural noise as hamsters do make these types of sounds on occasion.

Does it sound somewhat like this?

If so, I really wouldn't worry over it

That clicking/popping noise in the linked video means 'I'm happy!'. Most hamsters don't make the sound, but it's really adorable in those that do. It's essentially a hamster's version of purring.

If it sounds like the video Drago linked you to, then your hamster is perfectly content and happy.

However, if it is louder, faster and sounds kind of like crackling a sweet wrapper (bad desctiption but I can't find a video) then it is probably teeth chattering. Teeth chattering will sound more rhythmic, rather than steady and constant. It means that a hamster is angry or scared and is warning you to back off.

Pip makes clicking noises when she is in her nest in her house, it seems quite normal she has always done it, I have thought she was dreaming of eating a peanut and was nibbling it in her sleep.....

My rescue dwarf hybrid sometimes makes a noise like a zip tie being fastened up. It's when she's frightened by something, and it always comes with a show of teeth! I've never tested it but I suspect the next stage would be a well-deserved bite.

She's getting tamer now (after 3.5 weeks) but we do sometimes call her "40 grams of rage" because of it!

Harvey makes those noises too, especially when he gets special treats especially roast chicken.

My hamster makes a sort of clicking and wheezing sound and she is a new hamster and she is quite scared and frightened so I assume it's just your hamster being a bit nervous if it's a bit more fast paced. If the clicks are slow, your hamster is happy . Though if you do see signs of illness for example; a hunched posture, hiding a lot, dull fur, etc, you may want to visit a vet, otherwise, your hamster is doing well. Just keep an eye on your ham ham and do some health checks to see if your hamster has any problems or troubles. As you stated before, your hamster is eating, drinking ,etc. I wouldn't worry too much. Though if you are still worried, just go to a vet and your vet will see if your hamster has any problems.
