Exclamation Eating Playsand!

I just brought home a new short haired Syrian hamster and he is eating his playsand I put in his cage for bathing. Is this bad? Should I remove it? I mean it looks like he is eating it and sound like he is eating it but im not 100% sure.

Hello and welcome to HC!

I wouldn't really worry about it to be honest, sand is safe to ingest in small amounts. Think of it this way, your hamster would be ingesting some while grooming anyways! It would only be a problem if he was taking mouthfuls of the stuff. Best wishes
