Tilly rip ( may upset)

I posted in another thread, just wondered if anyone knew from this picture what's on my hamsters mouth and paw, if it caused her to pass away or not,
She never show any signs of illness, ate well and behaved as normal,

Wednesday I gave her food, she took it looked normal and went back to her bed area, I left her as it was late and I was tired, she looked fine from I can remember, Thursday night I come home from work and she is cold and wobbly when walking, we wrap her in a blanket and sit her on our laps cuddling her and talking to her, she becomes active and walks round the sofa, she then lays down and a tiny blood comes from her nose, she then died,
We are upset but I don't want to take her to a vet for an autopsy as she looked peaceful and I don't want her cut open, we are burying her today

I hope she knew we loved her, I'm glad we were there when she passed away and not at work,
She was a funny hamster the best, Shen loved Salrd she was spoilt

Hi Lydia,
So sorry to hear about Tilly, from what you describe it is quite highly likely that Tilly may have suffered a stroke or a haemorrhage.
"I have now just read the other Tilly thread she may have had an internal infection which was a contributory factor"
She was with those who loved her when she passed I hope that is a small comfort for you.
Rest well little Tilly and have fun and frolics where ever you are now.

Sometimes it helps to know what happens however with small creatures it is often really hard to know and sometimes we never can tell what went wrong. It does look just like there is some dried mucousy discharge round her mouth and on her paws which may indicate she had some sort of respiratory infection. Hammies can catch human colds and viruses and older hamsters can suffer quite badly with these. Their airways are very tiny so any mucous or swelling results in pneumonia which takes them quickly. Take comfort from knowing she was in her home home and secure. We find that many hamsters will come out their nest and lay down when about to cross the bridge so that is fairly normal if you ever see that happen. It was nobody's fault and nothing you did Lydia. It was her time to be called xx

Thank you everyone, we had a little funeral for her today, me and my partner
Buried her under a small tree/ bush in an enclosed area of the park with a letter from us, I wanted to bury her in a nice wooden box but read they don't decompose well, so we buried her wrapped in some of her tissues from her bed wrapped in some nice tissue paper, hope she will be ok

She was loved and spoilt, she was famous with friends and work colleagues, they always asked after her,
I work in a nursing home and bought her in a couple of times all the residents loved her, she was always well behaved when handled by others except she pooped in a work colleagues hand once 😂 She was spoilt by me, had a massive cage and lots of toys,
We took her to a nursery for the day once aswell to visit the little children, she loved her ball and free play

I'm soo glad we were with her when she passed away, she knew our voices and smells so knew we were comforting her,
