Default How to not pass a cold onto a hamster

Hi everyone.

So I think I'm coming down with a cold. Ive read that hammies can pick this up from us, so obviously I am trying to avoid this.

I usually get Khali out for playtime every evening, to roll about in her ball, for playpen time or for cuddles on the sofa. Obviously I dont want to be handling her, so would it be ok for me to still get her out in the ball and playpen and transport her in the ball instead of me carrying her? Also, what should I do when feeding her or changinf her water bottle etc? Should I even be in the same room as her if I have germs? ( this would be difficult as she is in my all in one living room)

I will obviously wash my hands etc like I aleays do. Im just trying to prevent her catching it. Sorry if they are dumb questions

You can't avoid them completely when you have a cold so it's just basic hygiene really, don't handle her any more than you need to to get her out or do food or water etc.
Try & stay well clear if you're sneezing though!

Just want to share a couple of video links that may help you with what to do when you're ill. The first is from ErinsAnimals and the second is from Hopping Hammy.

Hope you feel better soon !

Great advice Cypher and Chesca good to know, but its mainly common sense as you said. I'm not ill after all, just my body playing tricks on me. Usually when I start sneezing a lot its a sign I'm getting a cold, then a few hours later I'm full of it. Woken up this morning, nothing. But I'll be weary, just in case its lurking
