Default Broken leg and eye injury?

Hi guys, my hamster, Opus, was limping around the other day and wouldn't put any weight on his paw. The next day he had some goo in his eyes and it was a bit swollen (he could still close it). I took him to the vet and he said he thought it was a broken leg but wasn't entirely sure about his eye. Since the swelling had gone down since his injury the vet assumed it was a trauma injury and he got something in his eye that he couldnt get out because of the break in his leg (front leg, same side as the eye in question) I was hoping to get a second opinion from someone around here who has had a similar experience with their hamster! He's a year and 4 months old Syrian. I attached a picture of his eye below. His eyes are usually very bright and shiny.

It looks as though the eye is damaged quite badly or even ruptured there. This is very painful and I would have expected the vet to prescribe some pain relief at least. Metacam can be used for hamsters. The leg require complete cage rest till it heals. You need to take out his wheel and anything he can climb on and check the cage for anything sharp. A bin cage makes a good safe hospital cage. Give him cardboard to chew and lots of nibblle sticks etc to give him something to do. Feed calcium rich foods like milky porridge and a little cheese to help the bones heal.
Watch the eye and leg for any signs of blackness or the hamster chewing at the leg or scratching it. Watch the pouches do not over fill as hamsters with leg injuries often cannot push to empty them. If anything develops or he isn't eating he needs taken back to the vet. I hope he rallies round soon

Yeah, I've been doing all of that. I've been trying to get in to a vet who normally works with hamsters, but scheduling has been really rough.
