This morning I woke up and feed peanut her food... that's when I noticed a ant in her bowl!!!
I am still in panic!
I'm not sure what to do!
Will they eat peanut???
Will they pinch her??
What will happen
Please reply this is urgent
We have had ants problems but not in peanuts cage!!
Thanks in advance

Re: HELP !! Ants found in Peanuts Cage
I'm not too sure, but definitely remove the ant straight away, maybe move peanuts cage into another room. I doubt they'll eat peanut, but they might pinch her. Is peanut a dwarf or a Syrian hamster?? If a Syrian, they eat mealworms and stuff in the wild and I expect they'd also eat ants if they can catch them.... Like I said, I'm not too sure, maybe look on Google and do some research.
I hope I helped but I don't think I did!

Re: HELP !! Ants found in Peanuts Cage
Don’t worry, I really doubt they will harm Peanut. However, I would do a thorough clean of the cage. Check that none of her food has gone off. Never leave fresh fruit or veg in the cage and store all food in air tight containers. It may be one lone ant, or several may have been attracted by the smell of Peanut’s food. I also second potentially moving the cage to a different room.

Re: HELP !! Ants found in Peanuts Cage
I would reccommend cleaning the cage with your usual small animal cage disinfectant.

Re: HELP !! Ants found in Peanuts Cage
Try not to worry too much, if there are more ants in there Peanut might even eat them!
I think your main concern is finding a way to keep them out in future, it might be a bit messy for you but you can make a barrier around the side of the tank with something like vaseline which wouldn't give off any chemical fumes or smell that could harm Peanut but it would stop the ants climbing up & into the tank until you can find a better solution.
You don't need to go overboard with cleaning, just check for more ants & remove any you find, you don't have to clean everything or disinfect or anything like that.

Re: HELP !! Ants found in Peanuts Cage
Can you get/buy rubbing alcohol and mix it with baby powder. Then put the mix on the outside of the tank. It acts as a barrier that ants can't cross.
It is used by ant keepers to stop ants climbing out of their formicarium and outworlds.
Fluon (if that's how to spell it) is a pre-made solution used by ant keepers if you can get it. It may be more expensive, but is meant to be really good.
