Red around nose!
Hello!
I have a question, I have 3 hamsters but one of them is a little red around her nose...
Is that bad?
(INFO: Female, Shiko is her name, She is 5-6 months old, Russian dwarf)

I can't really tell much from the photo, is there any way you could get a few more clearer shots? Is she sneezing at all, or is her nose runny? What bedding is she on? More pictures and info would really help

re: Red around nose!
It does look a bit red, hard to tell from a photo though.
Is she living alone or with another of your hams? I think from your previous posts she's alone but if not then fights are always a possibility.
She might have caught it on something if she's been digging around in the cage, does her cage have bars? If it does then pushing it through the bars or bar chewing could cause a problem like that.
I would check her cage over for anything sharp or rough & keep an eye on it, if it doesn't improve then get your vet to have a look.

THANKKKSS!!!
She lives alone and on wood shavings, her cage has bars and I don't see anything sharp...
She has never chewed bars and she's not chewing them now so... What do you think?
And she's a sleep now and i won't wake her up better photos will come

Re: Red around nose!
She could have scratched it with her claws if they're too long, it's still hard to see much but if you think it may be infected then I would take her to the vet.

Re: Red around nose!
I wouldn't attempt to cut her claws yourself, unless you've done it before or a vet has shown you how. They are very wriggly and you may end up hurting her instead.

Re: Red around nose!
Clipping is a 2 person job IMO You can do it at home if you know what your doing. Need 2 people. I'd take the hammy to the vet for this too while the vet looks after her nose, she could have scratched herself and it got infected or irritated. Parasites can even do this or allergies. I'd get her checked out by an exotic vet.

Re: Red around nose!
I am sorry to hear that Shiko is having a possible infection on her nose. I would definitely take her to the vet. I hope that she is feeling better soon. I will be wishing you and Shiko all the best.
