Exclamation Weird eye?

Hi, this is my first post on here! Just needed a bit of advice please.

Went to go say bye to my hamster the other week before work, and I noticed her left eye had gone completely red, there was no discharge and she was active and her normal self and the eye did not seem to be bothering her. I got her a vet appointment straight away, he said he doesn't think it's anything serious, he gave me some antibiotic/steriod ointment and said it might help but if it doesn't it's nothing to worry about and we just have to make sure she still has good quality of life as her eye sight won't be as good. He said if she stays the same and she's happy and behaving normally not to book another appointment.

She completed the course of antibiotics 3 days ago and the eye hadn't got better or worse so we just accepted that that was how she was going to be. Anyway yesterday she popped her head out of her house to grab some banana I had tried to pop in discreetly and again she was fine. Red eye but her normal happy self! However in the evening she came out and the red eye was stuck together.

Do you think I need to book another vet appointment or simply bathe with saline?

Sorry for such a long rambly post! Thanks

does it look like this at all?

Our dwarf suffered a bleed in to the back of the eye once. It can be caused by an injury, glaucoma (eye will swell with this) or just happen spontaeneously but they do normally lose the sign in the eye.
With this hamster we saw the vet who is very experienced with small animals and he gave her steroid / antibiotic drops. It took a long time but the blood gradually got less and less and formed a crescent in the bottom of the eye before going completely. I think she lost her sight in that eye but the other was fine. If your little one has a sticky eye though I would try bathing first with saline and if it is still sticky then maybe pop her back as it could be an uncleared infection. Harriet actually needed artificial tears to keep the eye lubricated as the tear duct was affected and her tears were too sticky to do the job properly.

Thanks for replying!

No her entire eye is completely red, I would post a picture but I don't have any clear enough.
The vet looked in her eye and said it was filled with blood rather than the normal fluid. Glad to know your hamsters eye cleared up though! I'll try her with the saline thank you!

Originally the whole eye was full of blood but it did gradually go over time. It took a good long while to disappear though
