Re: Flaky skin
i thought it was Teddy's time last night... he went totally still... not moving at all and just lying there. Even when I picked him up he did not move just rested on my chest.... moving his nose and ears every now and then... after two hours of being like this we got him to drink a bit of water and get him moving again... eating a bit of cheese and a carrot to try to get some water into him...he started to move a bit and sit and stand up... I took him to the Vet this morning and he said he thinks it might have been a stroke or epilepsie.... he gave him some antibiotics and said that there was a lump onhis shoulder... that could be a tumor but we wont know that now... he said I must just watch him as he is already old as well.

Re: Flaky skin
It does sound as though he could have had a stroke, it's not uncommon in older hams although he's not what I would call really old just yet, I don't really understand the antibiotics though.
Did you ask the vet about his skin & the other lump you found?

Re: Flaky skin
The Vet said that it could also be an infection therefor the antibiotics... and he said I should just continue with the primrose oil for his skin... it is probably just do to age... and he said the spot I found does not look like anything... he listened to his lungs and heart and said everything seems fine.

Re: Flaky skin
Teddy is doing good. He had a wound on his shoulder where the vet injected him but it is healing nicely... he is drinking water out of his bottle again and playing and eating... he does seem a bit disorientated every now and again... as if he is not quite sure where he should go in his cage... but I jave broken down his cage a bit that it is only one level instead of 2. At least he is better

Glad to hear he's feeling better now.
