Default Hamster with wet spot under chin and not sleeping

I'm having some weird problems with my hamster. Lately she does not sleep very much anymore. She is up and active nearly all day and night. She is a Syrian, approx 1.5 years old. She is eating and does not seem to have tooth problems. This morning I found her with her fur all sticky and wet looking under her chin and all over her chest and front feet. I thought it was water but hours later has not dried up. It looks sticky and slightly orange in color. She has a bit of dried poo on her anal region but no sign of wet tail. She is stuffing her cheek pouches and walking around not emptying them. Usually if they are sick they become lethargic but she is unusually active! There is a stronger than usual smell coming from her cage although it's clean.
What could be wrong with her? She is just not acting like herself.

I'm not sure what the problem is here Houdini. I wonder if she has a tooth abcess or maybe something stuck in her pouch that is causing a discharge. Does her breath smell bad? Impacted pouches can cause this and the drooling.
By her cage smelling do you mean it smells of wee? Hamsters do wee more as they age and the kidneys weaken so it could be that you need to clean the wet corner more frequently. It could be a urine infection though. Does she have any discharge from her vents? Females can get womb infections.
I would take her to have a health check at the vets as it may be easily identified and treated by an expert.
Good luck

She has not been able to empty her cheek pouches for over 24 hours and they are FULL. It seems they are impacted. She has also developed wet tail due to the stress. I tried to massage her cheeks to help her empty them but she cannot. Her eyes are all runny and sticky now too. She is suffering so bad now. I gave her a drop of liquid Baytril I had leftover from my bird (we never used it because the bird died before getting it) I don't know the exact dosage but it was one drop each 12 hours for a small bird so I figured a drop wouldn't hurt her. I am desperate to help her in some way.
I'm going to try to get her to the vet today. Hopefully he can save her. What are the chances of recovering from wet tail and cheek pouch impaction? Do you know?

Unfortunately the small animal vet was not able to see her until tomorrow and as she was really suffering badly, I had no choice but to take her to a regular vet who euthanized her. She was in extreme pain and I don't know that even a small animal vet would have recommended treatment. She went peacefully in her own bed with me petting her. She is finally able to sleep now without pain. I miss her so much already!

I am so sorry to hear this Houdini. You gave her the gift of peaceful rest. She will be free from her pain now.
I don't think the other vet would have been able to do anything different as she seems to have gone downhill very quickly
Play well at the bridge little one
