Eye lump syrian - help please
Hi there, just noticed an pink lump on my female syrian eye, can you tell me what it could be? she's 5 months, her behavior is normal, still eating and drinking, haven't seen her much since I changed her to a tank but I know she comes out to play everyday cause the bedding is turned and the food is gone from her bowl. Yesterday I changed the sand in her potty, and today when I checked her I saw the lump could it be sand in the eye cause she digs in the sand? Or is it some other thing? Do I need to take her to the vet? Please help

Re: Eye lump syrian - help please
It looks like she has a little infection in an eyelash follicle or a Stye in human terms. They often clear on their own without any problems. They come to a sort of head and burst and exude pus. You can try bathing with some saline (1 teaspoon salt in a pint of cooled boiled water) It's not that easy to do though. If it gets very large and her eye is dischargy and red looking I would advise seeing the vet as she will need some antibiotic drops.

Re: Eye lump syrian - help please
My Tinkerbell had one of these a little while ago!
I took her to the vets who checked her out and basically said it looked like she'd knocked her eye or as Souffle said (and also on my post when I posted the same thing when I saw it!) it was a stye, I was advised to leave it alone but keep an eye on it for a week, if it didn't go down in a week I was to take her back but it's sorted itself out and went away on it's own!
I hope this helps

I don't have much to add as these two above posts sum up what you should do very well. My neighbor has a ham who poked his eye with some straw she had put into his cage. It healed up alright, but like others have said, if it worries you at all make sure to take her to the vet

Thanks everyone. I checked her yesterday, the lump is still there but is not bothering her and I think is a tiny little bit less swollen. I'll keep checking and update you! Thank you!

Re: Eye lump syrian - help please
If it's not getting any bigger then I'd say that's a good sign!
I checked Tinkerbell's daily to make sure it wasn't getting any bigger, it did take slightly longer then a week to go but it did slowly go on it's own.
I would have taken her to the vets again if it had got bigger or was bothering her, it had done neither (she ate, drank, played and socialized with me as normal throughout) which was good and as she was her usual self I didn't think too much into it and just kept a close eye on her eye (ha!)
Keep us posted =]

Hi guys! My Alice is fine, her eye is back to normal and I don't think she even noticed the lump!
