Re: Our Hamster is poorly again.
I'm back now.
Vet has given him another 2 week course of baytril. I also went to Pets at home and picked up some pro c. I'll try the Baytril in his water and sprinkle some pro-c on his food. Does that sound okay?

Re: Our Hamster is poorly again.
Actually, just read through posts again. I'll give him some pro c on something soft before I give him the baytril.
What a stressful morning! Thanks for all your help. Going to set up the big one strorey cage now. Hope he's okay with it. X

Re: Our Hamster is poorly again.
It does sound like a stressful morning, time to relax now!
If he has the baytril in his water you can't really keep it separate from the Pro c but I wouldn't worry too much about that for now as long as he gets some it should still do him good & you can continue with it for a while after the meds are finished.
Hope he gets better & stays better this time.
Maybe try using the new cage as a play cage for a while so he has a chance to get used to it before moving him over?

Re: Our Hamster is poorly again.
Hope he gets better soon. Let him play in the new cage first. Once he is settled keep him in it permanently. Having some of his substrate, toys etc can help with a cafe transfer as they will smell familiar.

Re: Our Hamster is poorly again.
It's a cage he's familiar with and he seemed okay when I put him in, and even played for a while. I'd put some of his old bedding in with some new and he tucked himself in and is now fast asleep. Think it's probably tired him out.
I feel better knowing that he's all on one level and has plenty of space so he won't have to climb up and down if he's not feeling too good. I will keep an eye on how he gets on though - haven't seen him drink at all, even just the normal water before I put the baytril in which is unusual for him. I'll try him with a little bit of cucumber later on.
He's taken food back to bed though! I guess it's just a wait and see game now. I'll leave him in peace tonight and not get him out - think he's had enough exercise today.
Thank you for all you help. It's so good to have people who understand to talk to.
