How to keep them toasty?

Thanks Serendipity. The big issue is old electrics (they have cased sparks more than once!) and not having the money for a good oil heater. It's not so bad risking the heating on short days or when I can go back at lunch but today that didn't seem possible.

I should add Loki's room has no draft, it's by far the warmest room in the flat and holds heat for a good while. I wish I could just get the heating sorted but it's not actually my flat! So it has to wait til next Wednesday earliest when Loki's dad is back from Australia...

I think you're doing everything that is right for your hammy really. We have a roborvski and our apartment is VERY cold, however, I have a blanket wrapped around his cage, an unbelievable amount of bedding (including an egg carton house hidden in sawdust) and I have the heating on early in the morning - when he is quite active and late on an evening - also when he is most active.

I agree with others saying a space heater may be handy, we have one for those extra chilly days. I'd highly recommend getting one for you and your hammy.

We live in South West Ireland on a top floor, balcony apartment so it's very chilly here.
