How could I help her?
My hamster, Sugar, had a stroke a few days ago. Since then, she eats and drinks but is still wobbly and wonders in circles. I took out all things she could fall off of and I make sure she gets to her food and water okay. I also put paper towels down flat so she can walk around without wobbling or tripping. Is there anything else I can do to help her out?

Re: How could I help her?
Has she been taken to the vet? If not I would highly suggest she is, the vet could be very helpful in making sure she never has a stroke again. I would just do what you're doing and keep her comfortable. Keep her food and water near her nest this way she can rest and recover, and slowly make her way back to hopefully regaining all her strength. I'm sorry your little one had to go through that and I hope she feels better soon

Yes I took her to the vet. The vet diagnosed her with the stroke. Sugar is already becoming a little bit more normal. Thanks for the info and thoughts.

Awe poor little one, hope she continues having a speedy recovery! You probably are already doing this, but maybe try not to let her out of the cage for playtime until she fully recovers. Hoping for a speedy recovery for your little one

Re: How could I help her?
You are doing the right things by removing anything she can`t manage or use. I would suggest keeping her sleeping hut in the same place, her drinking bottle and her food. She will know where these are and will continue to look for them. Her balance won`t be the same and she may `circle` or topple sometimes, but aslong as she`s eating/drinking, managing to pee/poo and has clear open eyes and seems able to keep going as she is, I would just carry on regardless and not let her out of the cage unless only for inspection of her condition and a wee cuddle. I`ve had spinning roborovski`s myself so I know how these conditions can manifest. They do tend to manage well even though we overly worry sometimes, but that`s just human nature!
If you use substrate that she can grip onto I would just carry on using that. Just keep a close eye on things. x

Re: How could I help her?
Hope Sugar's better soon. Be sure to add extra substrate and bedding so she's comfortable.
