I hope so too! With any luck they'll see truth in what I'm saying, all they need to google is dwarf hamster groups/pairings to see "If they fight, separate" pretty much on every result.
(Sorry for getting your username wrong in a previous post, think I've been watching too much game of thrones and was thinking of Khal Drogo!)

Re: Beaten Up Dwarf Hamster @ College
'Thank you for your feedback please rest assured appropriate care is being made for the hamster in question, I would like to meet up and discuss your concerns please?
Please feel free to suggest an appropriate date and time (I’m available most days)
Photography - I am not allowed to give permission for photos to be taken within the animal centre (college policy, approval is required from marketing).'
Look's like it will come to a face-to-face conservation after all! Although I'm not sure what appropriate care meant, as in he's being checked or has indeed been separated? I plan on finding as much internet research as possible to take with me (shouldn't be hard as literally everywhere says split fighting dwarves -_- ). Strange about the photography though ... Every student including myself has taken numerous photos of the animals. I could have taken some during cleaning but I didn't want to hold him back in case it could put him more at risk of fights. Sigh. He'll have to spend another weekend in the colony.

Hey don't worry about the username thing, I've heard that game of thrones is an excellent series and I think it's pretty cool my username can be connected in some way! I hope the conversation with them goes well and this issue is resolved. I definitely admire the care you've shown to the little ones where most would walk away, it shows courage. Best wishes

Re: Beaten Up Dwarf Hamster @ College
Will it just be you and the tutor meeting up or will someone else be there? You probably don't know. Maybe you could ask the nice course manager if she will go with you. It could help to have a third person there - apart from anything else as an impartial person and who can remember what was said.
The tutor is probably worried you're going to take photos and send them to the RSPCA!
Hopefully he's been separated and not spending a week-end with the colony. After all they would look pretty bad now, after your email, if they haven't separated him.
Let us know when the meeting is! I agree a face to face isn't easy, especially as it is a tutor/student situation and if your tutor sticks to their beliefs. So having someone else there would be a good thing. Could you email the nice course manager and ask if she could attend a meeting with you with the tutor on such and such a day?

It is incredible that on a couse teaching about animals that you had to go through so much to get this done.
A little knowledge is clearly a dangerous thing ...

Re: Beaten Up Dwarf Hamster @ College
You were very brave and I'm really glad to see people fighting for what they think is right.
Institutional affairs are difficult, because usually we don't have the power to make a difference and we can end up in a bad place If we face a stubborn and selfish person, so I'm very happy that this story had a happy ending.

Re: Beaten Up Dwarf Hamster @ College
That's really good news. Well done for pressing the point. They will probably say they were about to do it anyway! What about the rest of the hammies in the group? Are they getting on ok? I hope it didn't cause problems for you. Give yourself a pat on the back and don't let anyone get you down
