Emergency syrian in crit condition
My young female Syrian is in bad condition, bringing her to vet hopefully soon, but I'm worried that the trip will stress her as she's already in such bad condition. She was eating well and drinking normal but today as I went to feed her, I noticed she was lying face down in her shavings. I called her, shook her food dish, and pet her. No response. Her body temp was extremely low so I've put her in a small bin with a hide, water, and shavings from her old cage, and added a heat pad to try and get her temp up. She's lethargic and wobbling as she tries to walk. I gave her some sugar water and she sucked it down but still isn't moving. What is your opinion? Should I risk taking her to the vet? I'm very worried.

Yes you need to see the vet right away. It does not sound hopeful but you need to give her a chance. Good luck at the vets

As the others say, take her to the vet. It sounds like you're doing all the right things, warming her gently.

Re: Emergency syrian in crit condition
For a young animal the symptoms don`t sound good Drago. You have done the right things by trying to warm her up and make sure she`s able to drink from a syringe or take some soft food. The shaking when walking could be her nervous system or her body unable to regulate energy/heat.
I hope she rallies round but if she`s stopped eating or is falling over, I would definitely get her to a vet for a professional opinion. Allow her to rest and just keep monitoring the situation if she seems better, but if not, she may have some kind of infection going on.

Hi
Definitely take her to the vet. I can't stress enough the imptortance of proper medical treatment for poorly animals.
Could she have gone into torpor?

Hope your little one is ok, I agree with the others about taking her to the vet.

Re: Emergency syrian in crit condition
Thank you all for the help and suggestions. I wish I could have gotten back in a timely matter but the holidays have made everything crazy for me. I'm heartbroken to say that due to negligence on my part, she passed away. I did end up taking her to the vet and it was there, after only a few minutes, that she passed away. The vet said they could check to see what had happened to her but for quite a large cost. Though thinking back now I should have said yes but I had said no, and left. Had I gone to the vet straight away, this all could have been avoided. I am extremely sad over this but will use it as a learning lesson, the next time something like this happens (though hopefully it never does) I will not stall, I will take her to the vet straight away and hopefully I can save the life of the other hammys. so I say goodbye to my young fuzzy friend spider and hope she'll tell Remington I miss her.

Re: Emergency syrian in crit condition
So sorry she didn't make it
These things happen and you did your best for her! Don't blame yourself we all second guess and you were second guessing because you were worried about stressing her and that's understandable xx
