Lump in/on eye?
Hi everyone.
I spotted a lump on / in (I don't know?) Tinkerbell's eye, I've got the best picture I could of it, she kept wriggling, doesn't seem to be in pain with it, my friend poked it (he thought it was fluff or bedding as she's forever getting that above her eye) and she didn't flinch or anything, so I don't think it's bothering her.
I HAVE booked the first vets appointment, it's on Saturday. I'm going to keep a very close eye on it, my friend said to maybe try salt water but not ON her eye, because he thinks it could be irritation due to sand because we're both forever pulling sand from very close to her eye for her.
She's fine in herself, still eating, still drinking, behavior is the exact same as usual; she's not behaving any differently, it's come in over night because I did the weekly health check last night before bed and there was no sign of it.
Should I try salt water in case it is irritation or just wait until the vets appointment?
The picture is uploaded below.

Re: Lump in/on eye?
It looks like a stye to me. I would probably wait for a vet's appointment before putting anything on the eye right now, except maybe a warm compress. If it is a stye, it will bring the infection to the surface and begin the healing process.
Likely you'll get some eye drops (if it is a stye) and fingers crossed it fixes right up. x Best of luck.

Re: Lump in/on eye?
I've decided to leave it and just wait until the vets visit, I googled hamster stye, every picture looks different, I don't want to put her in any discomfort so I'll just keep an eye on it and wait until Saturday. I often get styes myself, so I know what they're like, I always left mine alone, I do hope it's just that and nothing too severe.
Thank you x

Re: Lump in/on eye?
That sounds perfectly reasonable to me. A vet will be able to guide you more. Keep us updated.

Re: Lump in/on eye?
It hasn't got any bigger and she's blinking and behaving as normal, so fingers crossed it is a stye. I'll be devastated if it's anything more sinister, still keeping a close eye on it!
Got the money out of the vets fund today ready for Saturday! Just wish it'd come round quicker D:

Re: Lump in/on eye?
Let us know what happens. My little Cindy had a lump under her eyelid, she was given cream to help it go away. It was gone within the week.

Re: Lump in/on eye?
I will! I've been so worried the past couple days, even called in early this morning to see if they had any cancellations. 1PM tomorrow can't come quick enough! D:
Will let you know as soon as I know!
Also thank you BluerayDarkes - that's somewhat reassuring!
Just trying to keep positive that it's nothing sinister!

Re: Lump in/on eye?
Back from the vets, the vet reckons she's just bumped or caught her eye cause there's a slight swelling but she did an eye examination and her eye was absolutely clear, she noted down the size of it, if it gets bigger or any discharge comes from it I have to go back, but she reckons it's nothing serious, so yay! x
I just hope it does go away in it's own time!
