Default testing for Diabetes

Hello all,

So I have ordered the Ketone diastix and they have arrived, I am just writing to ask if anyone has used them before and if so how do I use it as I have got really confused and which colour do I know, if it appears, tells me that Nutmeg is diabetic?

Thanks

You pop Nutmeg into a clean carrier and wait until she pees (I find it best to get a ham out of his/her nest or very soon after s/he has woken as they pee faster). You then dip the stick in the fresh pee.

On keto-diastix there are two colour squares, one for the ketones and one for the glucose (the ketone test is usually red/pink and the glucose usually blue). The bottle will have a chart with both of the colour squares and possible colour changes. The chart on the bottle will say which square is for glucose and which is for ketones. At this point the glucose square is the important one for Nutmeg.

The bottle will tell you how long after dipping the stick in the pee to check for colour change. At the right time, compare the glucose square to the glucose chart on the bottle and see what it says. Then you can compare the ketone square on the stick to the ketone chart. Always look one square on the stick in comparison to the chart on the bottle at a time - if you try and look at both you go cross-eyed and get confused!

Thank you, I am still just a little confused, so on the colour chart for both substances which colour will tell me that Nutmeg is diabetic? basically once I do the test which colour means Nutmeg has got diabetes?

The glucose is the important one I'd suggest ignoring ketones until you know what the glucose is.

You're welcome to message me or post them here, whichever you prefer

I found this picture on Google images of what your bottle and stick should look like:

The top square on the stick (the pale blue one) is the glucose, and the bottom square (the pinky one) is the ketones. I'd suggest you check the bottle and stick you have just to make sure it's the same before you start testing as different brands can be different colours. It should say near each chart on the bottle what that chart is testing for.

Hello,

So this is a picture of the diastix that I have, note this hasn't been used as she didn't urinate.

how would I encourage her to urinate and which colour is the colour that shows she is diabetic when she has been tested as I cannot see the part as to where it says.

The blue one at the end of the stick furthest away from where you hold
