Exclamation Bald Chin!! Any ideas?

He's always had a bit of a hairless chin but I've just noticed how bad it is getting!
(Pictures attached)

Anyone have any idea what it could be or if its harmful? Has you or any known hamster ever had a skin condition?

Planning a vet visit asap but not sure how urgent it is and hoping it won't be too expensive!!?

~~ I adopted my little guy a couple of months back and he's about 6 months now!
I dont think he'll ever be tamed though
You never know! ~~

Thanks!!

Hi and welcome. Does your little hammy chew the water bottle spout or the bars by any chance? I looks like the baldness caused by constantly wet chin and the saliva and wetness irritating it. It can also occur because the hamster is drooling a lot and this is often due to a tooth problem or a pouch problem. Does he empty the pouch OK or does it feel full all the time?
We may be able to help once we know the answers to these questions

Question Re: Bald Chin!! Any ideas?

Thanks for the welcome

I have a vet visit arranged for monday, he should make it til then

And no, he doesn't chew the bars at ALL that i have seen however he often drinks for long periods of time (minutes at a time?) at night, however I always assume the bottle isnt releasing much and he's quite thirsty!

What you're saying could very well be true actually, either sounds possible... However I cant check his teeth or pouches because I cant touch him for periods of time above a second when he's eating a mealworm or something, he's so timid!! In fact, one of the only times ive seen his teeth is the picture i attached.

Ive been working with him as often as I can, for a couple of months every day but i sometimes wonder if he's untameable... I also havent handled much past couple of days as i didnt want to pass on my illness. It was after that i noticed it got worse.

However about his pouching, he seems to pouch the seeds i give him ok, and then he runs to his house and eats them one by one? Is that normal?

I will go look at his pouches now...

I managed to feel some seeds in them, but i also found his stash by accident, so he must be emtying his pouches.
Lol he also managed to bite me a couple of times
He also seems to be itching, or maybe washing a lot. He gets in the weirdest positions haha xD
