Exclamation help! hamster eaten sweets?

Hey everyone.

I need some advice. I was cleaning my Syrians cage out earlier so had her in the play pen...somehow she managed to escape like the little hamster houdini she is! I saw her at the corner of my eye in a bag of sweet on the floor. I ran to grab her but it was too late as she had one in her pouch. I put her straight in her cage so she would take it out to hoard and the wrapper was completely off and all wet and the sweet was all sticky...there doesn't seem to be any nibble marks on it.
She seems fine and has now gone to back to bed..do u think I need to get her checked out or should she be alright?

Thanks from a very worried Hammiemumma

What type of sweet was it? Can you show us the ingredients? If she's acting different at all, I would take her straight to the vet.

She may just have licked at the sweet & not actually eaten any so should be ok, just keep an eye on her, most of the ingredients are really bad for her but a tiny bit (a few licks) probably won't do much harm, I'd keep a close eye on her pouch too just in case it's got anything sticky in there which could cause problems.

It sounds like she took a few licks and decided it wasn't so nice. All you can do is keep a close eye on her.

Thanks everyone

I kept a close eye on her through the night and this morning and she seems fine.

How would I check her pouch?

Thanks again! All sweets have now been put away just incase she decides to go for a wander again!

Just check that there isn't a lump or bulge in her pouch that doesn't move or seems to be there all the time, if it is sticky in there food could get stuck then the pouch gets impacted & the lump of food needs to be removed.
It probably won't happen but something to be aware of.
