Question Advice please

Hi there,
I just wondered, my dear hammy Gladys isn't behaving like normal and I hope from this video, if it works you might be able to help! She's squeaking making a meep meep noise a lot recently and seems wobbly when walking. I don't know what's wrong? I can tell something is not right.

Many thanks
Polly

Hello. Can't see the video link, but it does sound like something is wrong. What species of hamster is Gladys?

Is she still doing it? Or is it just when she is in the tubes. Will she sit on you to be stroked do you think? She does seem to have something going on there and a vet visit in the morning might be a good idea. Meanwhile I don't know what else to suggest, but one of the experienced breeders might be able to suggest something.

I suppose it's possible she may just have hiccups. Does she look ok in herself or in some distress? Or it could be some kind of neurological problem. It might settle. Comforting her might help hence suggesting if you could have her on your lap and stroke her maybe. Also have you checked her water bottle? In case it's dehydration or something?

Currently she's sitting in the looking at me doing that chirping squeaking. My last hammy was as vocal but Gladys has become very vocal. Though the last few days quite wobbly too, not so much a torpedo....

Sounds like she is trying to tell you something. Maybe gently pick her up and have her out of the cage on your knee. And check water bottle maybe.

Ok - so is she not tame enough to sit on you? Just talk gently to her thento try and comfort her. Maybe she wouldn't run a mile at the moment if she is feeling a bit wobbly Whenever our Syrian has looked at me and acted oddly it's because he is trying to tell me there's a problem with either the wheel or the water bottle usually!

Water and her wheel are fine, just checked. I'll see how she is in the morning.
