Default Hamster shaking and hunched back

Hi everyone,
This morning when my hamster got up for a drink, I noticed she was shaking and her back is hunched a lot. I am not sure what she has wrong, does anybody know what it could be? I got her 2 weeks ago from pets at home, she is now 10 weeks old.
Thanks

Hi. A hamster that seems to be unsteady or weak isn`t a good sign, but what`s important is that she gets complete peace and quiet to rest and also, a decision today on whether these signs are tiredness or illness. She`s still young and could be susceptible to illness, so depending on how she`s been since you got her from Pets At Home, her behaviour will have settled somewhat, but a lot depends on what you have been doing with her or have you just left her alone a lot to settle in?

Watch her today and decide if she`s eating okay, drinking and look at her diet and what she`s been eating, or not eating. What are you feeding her on and does she have any raw veggies and if so, how much? Are her poos okay and formed normally?

Edited to add: Noticed you posted two days ago regarding a worry over diahhorrea? (can`t spell that word!) But you were not sure? If your hamster is a Syrian, she could be susceptible to wet tail, so if her poo is solid and normal, it won`t be that.

I had left her a week to settle in and had started feeding her treats from my fingers through the bars of the cage a few days ago.I rang pets at home and took her to their companion care vets. The very kind vet said unfortunately she would need to be put to sleep. It was an extremely hard decision, but it was what was best for her. I am extremely devastated being sold an I'll hamster twice now by pets at home and this time it was only two weeks. R.IP Peanut. You were loved very much xx
Thanks

Oh no! Poor peanut. Unfortunately many problems with hams don't become apparent until after they come home or are something they pick up at home. I'm so sorry you've been through all this but please take comfort in knowing that Peanut's life although too short was a happy and content one with you.

I am so sorry for your loss in such a short time. Sometimes there is no explanation but know you did the kindest thing.

Such a shame. Really sorry you had to lose Peanut. The symptoms did sound poor. I hope Pets At Home didn`t charge you for the consultation as a good will gesture. Rest in peace Peanut. x

I am so sorry for your loss Jazza - unfortunately it is not uncommon for this to happen in rodent farm bred hamsters from pet stores
Where are you located generally? You need to fully sterilise the whole cage and accessories set up and leave it at least 3 weeks to ensure all bugs have gone. If it can go in the sun all the better. Throw out wooden items / food / bedding and water bottle and start afresh with those.
We may be able to trace a breeder near you who can possibly have a healthy baby for you. If not I would suggest looking at one of the online sites where at least the babies have been raised in a home situation as at least these have more of a chance of being settled and handled.

So sorry this has happened - very sad xxx Good advice from Souffle. There are also hamsters for adoption in various places including the RSPCA who have a website for adoptions - it's not the same as having one from being a baby but you might be able to give a good home to a healthy adult hamster

On this page you select "small furries" in the drop down box then put in your post-code. Maybe not right now, but for when you feel like thinking about it.

Search rescue pets in need of adoption today | RSPCA

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll close this thread for you as I notice you've posted a memorial thread here: Peanut
