Exclamation He's coughing and I'm getting worried..

Hi!

Milo has been coughing since I got him. I thought it was just the substrate but we got him a new cage today with whole new substrate (changed from aspen to paper based) and he's still coughing. I'm just getting really worried. What could be wrong?

It could be a respiratory infection, I would take Milo to the vet to be on the safe side, he may need antibiotics.

I agree it does sound like a chest infection. A vet trip is in order , let us know how he gets on

I agree too, coughing is one of the most apparent signs of a respiratory infection. Usually vets will prescribe Baytril to be fed through a syringe

Ah.. I happen to have a huge phobia for needles and go to therapy for it.. Oh well, we'll go to the vet anyway. Hamster's life is more important then my fear :'D

It's only the syringe part,no needle at all Hopefully it all goes well though for Milo and he makes a fast recovery!

I'd get him seen for sure. Just think of the syringe as a dropper. It is only the plastic part as amity says that they give you to measure out the dosage in
