Poor cat, the sounds very unpleasant! Thank you for telling me though, I've been jumping to the worst conclusion when there's a chance it's something more simple and treatable.

Re: Very sick baby, advice would be amazing
I'm really sorry you're having such a hard time with this & having to make hard decisions, when you don't really know what's wrong it's always easy to think the worst, I know I would find it a hard choice to make but if there's really no improvement I think I would take the risk of having the anaesthetic & take things from there.
Try to think one step at a time & not worry too much about what might be, easy to say I know.
Keeping fingers crossed for you both & hoping things will get better soon.

Re: Very sick baby, advice would be amazing
Thanks to everyone for replying and supporting. Sadly I had to make the decision to put Lady to sleep this morning. Under the swelling there's was a massive tumour that started under her jaw and was moving up towards her brain. She was old, had an incredibly spoiled life and was very loved. She was very special to me and I'll miss her a lot but it was the best thing for her. She passed away with me next to her and is now buried next to her old pal Theodore.

I'm so very sorry Rempanda.
Glad you were able to be there with her at the end of her long & happily spoilt life, it's never an easy thing to do but you gave her the kindest gift at the end.

I'm so sorry it wasn't treatable. You were lucky to have each other. You have my condolences.

So sorry to hear that, she would have suffered a lot otherwise. Play well over the Rainbow Bridge little Lady.

Re: Very sick baby, advice would be amazing
I just read this thread and I can't say how impressed I am with your care of Lady. 3 years old is a wonderful age for a hamster. Besides being spoiled and loved, she was able to go on to the Rainbow Bridge easily because of your strength. I am so sorry you lost her.
