Default Roborovski sore nose

One of my robos has what looks like a sore nose and I wondered if anyone could help. It looks a bit red - maybe as if it's been scratched, but she lives alone and has no bars to bite on.

She's had it before and it healed, but now it's happened again and I'm getting worried.

I haven't heard her sneezing - but could it be an allergy? She has wood shavings, sand (in a bath) and paper bedding. Her fur looks healthy and shiny and well groomed. We don't see her up as much as the other robo but I am pretty sure she is more active at night - she happily runs around inside the box when we get her out in every day.

She does sometimes stand under the layer (she is in a duna mini fun with a single layer) and scrabble upwards - could she be hurting her nose on the plastic? The only other thing I can think of is something on the wheel rubbing her.

Any help would be gratefully received!

That does sound odd if she is not bar chewing. I would say it is either an allergy (maybe she has a slight discharge from it and it is making it irritated) or as you say she is rubbing it on something. Also check her nails that they are not too long and she is scratching herself when she washes. Hammies can get little nasal polyps but they normally wheeze and keep wasing their noses with these. Check she hasn't found a toy or a teeny hole she can shove her nose in to chew. If it looks very sore probably best to see the vet.

Thanks - it doesn't look very sore, just a bit red (noticely more so than it was the other day). I've taken away her layer (she still has lots of floor space) and will keep a careful eye on her to see if it heals up. If it heals and stays that way, she'll have to manage without the layer.

I'll try and look at her nails too.
