Default Biting claws?

My Hybrid, Darktan, has been biting his claws a lot recently - They've got really long and I'm trying to get my dad to pay for him to have them trimmed at the vets (I can't pay myself because I'm 14 - if his claws are still long by the time I go back to school I'll save parts of my lunch money - I can't imagine it being too expensive). He does have stuff to scratch in his cage, but he doesn't have any rocks because I'd be too worried that it'd make him ill even if i did everything to make them clean. I will put them in his cage if it's necessary for his health, though.

Could biting his claws hurt him? I'm really worried about him. I'd trim his claws myself but my hands shake a little bit due to anxiety and I'd probably end up hurting him, and he doesn't like being picked up (I have tried to tame him since I got him in February 2015, but he only ever let me stroke him and after a couple of months I gave up on picking him up because I didn't want to cause him any stress).

Please respond ASAP I don't want him to get hurt

Default Re: Biting claws?

Hybrids claws do grow very fast & can get too long quite quickly without trimming, tbh I wouldn't worry too much about putting anything in the cage as I have yet to find anything that really helps except maybe digging in the sand bath but even then they do need a trim now & then, it shouldn't cost much so do ask your Dad if you can take him to the vets soon.
If not clipped they can curl under & hurt the foot pads so it does need to be done.

Thank you, I was getting worried! I'll take him to the vets as soon as I can
