Re: Help please!
A Vet visit is the best thing to due as down ears and weight loss is and emergency situation. Please take him to a Vet quickly as they can go down hill so quickly when not feeling well.

Re: Help please!
Sorry to hear that. Nancy is right you need to get him to a vet. Do you have a pet carrier? Is his water bottle working ok? Not that that would cause weight loss but it's something to check. Also do you think he could be injured in some way? Is he walking ok. Sometimes they can have falls in a cage if monkey barring and land on something hard (so best to keep hard things under shelves and have lots of deep substrate for cushioning.
Is he pooping, peeing and eating ok?

Re: Help please!
Hi so we took cookie to the vet and they was sure he had wet tail, so we got some anti biotics to try, this morning he's looking a lot worse, he can hardly walk, one eye is completely shut ( I have tried to clean the eye in hopes it will open) he keeps falling over and I have to help him up, he's cold and his lips are looking blue X

Re: Help please!
Can you take him back Carly? When they get to a situation where they cannot control their body temp the body system is shutting down and he is unlikely to make it.
The only way would be intensive nursing with fluids and warming in an incubator and even that may be too late I'm afraid.
Did he have diarrhoea to get the wet tail diagnosis? If he has had it then sometimes the bowel has been so badly damaged that they cannot absorb food and will fail to thrive.
If you cannot see a vet today either to ease his path or have intensive nursing then keep him very quiet and calm and offer fluid on a spoon. Talk gently and let him know you are there for him and he can take the path he chooses. Tell him he is loved and safe journey.
I hope his path is gentle.

Re: Help please!
So sorry to hear this. Did you manage to get the antibiotics into him ok? I think Souffle's advice to take him back is good but I guess that wouldn't be until tomorrow. Poor little guy.

Re: Help please!
So sorry to hear about this sad situation. Hope you & your daughters are able to cope okay with his sudden passing. With hamsters you never know what a day holds (goes for us too). Maybe when the time is right you can find another hamster to love just as you have loved your hammie that just passed. Only when/if your're ready?

Re: Help please!
I am so sorry - that is very sad. It's a nasty disease that hits hard and is hard to cure. I'm so sorry for your loss. I think sometimes it can be a genetic condition that makes them prone to it. Hugs for you.
