Serendipity7000 and AlfredHam, I'll Google the Pro-C powder and see if I can order some. Thanks!

Cinnamon Bear, the vet I talked to is the one I took my previous Syrian to. She was very good with him and really knew how to handle the little ones! This, as well as compassion, are important to me in vets--they must have experience in dealing with hamsters as well as be caring. She's definitely both of these

It's good to like your vet so I'm glad you feel confident in her!

I should note that the antibiotic Photini was taking was Baytril (I think it was Baytril 500mg tablet; half a tablet mixed into 20 ml water, and stored in the fridge). The dosage was 0.01 ml (so like a drop) twice a day. I was told to continue for 2 weeks after symptoms got better (which was June 3), and I did until June 12 when the bleeding happened; I was told that since I had continued for 8 days, I could stop. I still have another half a tablet left for her in case something happens. I'll also note the case is opaque; since it was in the fridge, that isn't in sunlight, should that be okay? I still have half a tablet in case her symptoms come back

Also this was prescribed from the animal rescue volunteer when I got her, she got the tablet and dosage from a vet (I'm guessing the vet that sees the animals they have rescued, and there are lots of hamsters so I think they should have experience with them).

I don't know much about storage of Baytril I'm afraid. Someone else might.

If the bleeding comes back it could have something to do with her lungs. If this happens I would take her an exotic vet as they are most experienced with your hamster. Given your vet maybe nice, you still need a specialist IMO.

Hi everyone, so I took Photini to the vet, and in terms of her lungs everything seems fine! But I was told that if she drinks excessively that it may be an indication of diabetes or kidney problems, so I started watching more. And she has been drinking (and maybe eating) excessively. No blood in her pee or poop, so I suspect diabetes. Is there something I should be doing to make her comfortable until I can get her to the vet for tests? I've read giving pedialyte is good (like a 50/50 water mixture in he bottle). Any other ideas?

Sorry to hear that. Well done you for getting her checked out and noticing. I'll let someone else answer that though as I don't know much about diabetes in dwarf hamsters.

Also Cinnamon Bear, the bleeding didn't come back but I think she may have diabetes.
