Default Wounded Hamster

The two hams I'm petsitting have lived together happily for nearly two years now.
In January, one appeared to have a small wound on its front shoulder, it healed and went away no problems.
About a month ago, a wound appeared on the side of the same hamster, at first it appeared to heal but it is now larger than it was before.

No blood has been found around their cage, or on their fur, and they haven't been fighting. They still snuggle together to sleep and both seem happy. The only behaviour seen is that the uninjured one is sniffing and biting at the wound on the other hamster.

Is it time to separate them, as the wound isn't healing?

I think it would be a good idea to separate them yes. They will both be fine living on their own. The wound issue sounds nasty and although you might not have seen them fighting, one could have attacked the other. Are you petsitting at your house or theirs? Just thinking the move (if at your house) could have changed their behaviour and made them territorial. But once a hamster is injured it could end up in a bloodbath.

Do you have another cage?

They moved to mine about 2 months ago, but this is their fourth house now and they're due to go back to their owner later this month which will be a final move.
There is a small cage, the one they originally had, that could be used temporarily, but will be a delay in getting a cage thats suitable. Would they be able to be re-integrated once healed?

It's not likely they can be reintegrated. They will adjust to living on their own and the one being bullied will be a lot happier.
