Question Help hair loss!

Evening people. I'm just wondering if anyone can help me with a hamster hair loss issue. I own a male Syrian approx 1 year and a half. I got him from his cage a couple of nights ago and noticed under his chin looked damp and when I checked he seems to have lose all the fur under there extending to his chest. I don't know if this is related but he has white fur on his feet and the front two have turned a yellow colour? I'm just wondering if this is anything to worry about. All I can think is that it has been really hot weather the last couple of weeks so he may just be sweating and moulting mixed with his age as I know hair loss is common as they get older. He doesn't seem lethargic, he's quite a lazy boy anyways and doesn't perk up until around ten pm and seems to enjoy running in his ball more out in the back yard at the moment which is making me think the heat has just got the better of him. But anyways..would people suggest a vet visit or do I just keep an eye on him? Also if anyone knows any reason why he suddenly has yellow feet?!

Hmm - sounds like he's been running in custard lol. I've just been reading up about tooth problems in older hamsters, as ours is having eating issues, and one thing it said is that a sign of their teeth getting a bit long is if they start dribbling. So maybe his teeth need checking or possibly trimming. I would suggest having a vet check. The hair loss is probably just his age. Charlie is two and has a bit of hair loss on his back now and having problems eating hard food.

I found it very reassuring having a vet check - they gave him a full checkover and pointed out the ageing issues like hair loss. They should check his teeth if you ask them.

The yellow feet could also be to do with dribbling maybe - if he's eaten something a bit yellow from his mix.

I think you may be right about the teeth! I haven't had chance to check them tonight he's too hyper. However, I've noticed his mineral block is totally chewed down, and it is also yellow 😄 He was only at the vets in January for a check up, they must grow quickly? I'll check his teeth tomorrow and get him in the vets Monday for a trim then he may stop dribbling haha.

You can check Charlie's as well if you want I haven't managed to be successful at doing that yet.

It's difficult, the YouTube videos make it look so simple. I find there isn't enough skin to scruff him and I feel bad doing it I'll try tonight then give him plenty of treats for being horrible person haha
