Pink Hamster Bedding?

So my hamster has white bedding and always has, I'm 100% sure its completely safe for Edgar (my hamster) but recently I've been finding parts of his bedding pink and its even got onto his substrate. There's nothing in his cage which could be responsible for this either. Does anyone have any idea as to what it is, if its a danger and what to do about it because he's my first hamster and I'm confused and worried

What type of bedding do you use? Are you finding any pink bits in the bag or just his cage? Do you have any red dyed wood toys in the cage? I have a yellow cube that runs yellow when it gets wet. If we can discount anything in his cage, how is your hamster? Is he himself? Does he pee in his bedding? Are the pink bits damp at all? We need to discount if he has a little blood in his pee. Can you post a picture of him and the bedding that's gone pink? So many questions! Hope we can get to the bottom of it.

Unless you mean you found pink bits in the bag of substrate before you put it in the cage I would agree with velma that the most likely things to look for are any toys with colours that can run or any signs of blood coming from anywhere, in pee or any tiny cuts you may not have seen.

I agree with Velma & Cypher, hopefully it's just some running dye from a painted toy that got a bit wet

The bedding I use is PetsAtHome Paper Flakes Hamster Bedding although I sometimes use tissue as he seems to prefer it. All the bedding I buy is completely white as I don't want to buy bedding with a dangerous dye in it. There are no objects in his cage which could dye the bedding. Edgar is acting the same as always, he's a happy and bright hamster. When I clean him out I tend to find little patches of pee on his bedding but he mostly pees in a corner of his cage. The pink bits are quite stiff, they're not soft like tissue or the paper flakes. Could this indicate that the pink parts were once wet and overtime its dried?
