Urgent: The anus of my male syrian hamster looks odd

Hi everybody,
Im kinda new to this site, but im very worried about my hamster Dobby.
He is an syrian of 10 months, and his anus looks kinda swollen and dark-ish (cant really see trhough the hair, but it looks weird to me)
Is there something wrong? Ive read once that they could have a colon prolapse...

What do you guys think?

Hello Irisatuy, and welcome to Hamster Central. If you have a male hamster it is most likely that you are seeing his testicles. Boy hamsters can be very well endowed down below. When they get warm they will get even larger, looking like little pink sacs popping out. It can make new owners panic.

If you can take a photo of his bottom we can let you know for sure if it's just his boy bits.

Charlie actually fell asleep sitting on top of his shortly after that photo was taken.

Are you certain it is around the anal vent? It is possible to have a rectal prolapse and this is a serious issue and needs immediate vet attention. If he has any red tissue hanging out the anus you must get him to the vets as if the bowel is not replaced it will die off and the hamster will not be able to be saved and will be in pain.
I really hope it isn't this but any swelling around the anus does need checked out.

I hope it isn't anything serious - I did wonder if it was the same when you said darkish. As Dr McK said, do you have a photo?

I would have thought by the age of 10 months you'd be used to his testicles & what they look like so if you are seeing something unusual around the anus, it can be dark, pink or red, then it could be a rectal prolapse which as souffle says is a condition that needs immediate treatment & you will need to see a vet as soon as possible.

It is not his testicals, i mean his actual anus. It looks like this
The upper thing is his penis, the lower dark hairy his anus

I'm finding it a bit hard to see what's going on tbh but I wouldn't hesitate to get your vet to check him out.
