Re: Sherbet - Health Updates
Aw - I'm glad she's cuddling up to you. It probably is sore like you say. Did they give you any painkillers for her?

Re: Sherbet - Health Updates
She has metacam which is an non-steroid anti-inflammatory which should ease her pain. The vets also gave her some after her surgery. I don't think it helps being on her face, so when she moves her head it hurts and when she sleep she is putting pressure on it.

Re: Sherbet - Health Updates
Poor Sherbet really has been in the wars, it does sound as though she should be on the mend now though, hopefully things will heal up quickly & the worst is over, for both of you.
I'm sure she will be sore for a while, she may well appreciate the baby food & or porridge for a few days at least till she feels at least a little less sore, keeping fingers crossed she'll soon be well & the stress will be over for you too.

Re: Sherbet - Health Updates
Thanks Cypher for your support. I'm hoping this is the last of this nightmare experience especially for Sherbet, I have my fingers crossed so tightly. I will try her some on some soft food later and she if she feels like eating.

Re: Sherbet - Health Updates
Sherbet has been through a lot but, what a determined little girl and such a fighter. Your vet sounds wonderful. You must be so proud of how she's coped, and with your continued love and care she'll be back to her normal self very soon.

Re: Sherbet - Health Updates
Thanks Thin Lizzy, yeah she been through a lot but still is still remaining strong and fighting through. My vets are great they even said they would not charge me anymore than £30 for her surgery and the previous trip they said that they wouldn't charge me which is really nice of them and it really shows they care about the animals they treat. When she got back from her surgery she just wanted cuddles and kept falling asleep in my hands I think my love helped her with the pain (also she kept placing her sore side of her head in my hand like she showing me it hurts - probably hoping I could take the pain away) at first I was a little worried about her she was restless and because of her heart rate as she was breathing fast and heavily, but after contacting the vet they said that's normal for after surgery. But she is amazing remaining so strong through every obstacle in her recovery, nothing will stop my Sherbet!
Update - Sherbet has just woken up she seems more comfortable and happy today as I don't think she is in as much pain as yesterday. She also had something to eat which is a good sign. She had a wash but everytime she touched her surgery wound she a made a like noise (probably "ouch" - but this will be sore for a while). So hoping after this she will be better, and hopefully the vets will give her the all clear on Friday.

Glad she is feeling better today She probably felt worse after the anaesthetic and that will be wearing off now. What a brave little girl she is.

Re: Sherbet - Health Updates
Of course your love and care helped her pain and sherbet just wanting cuddles says it, she knows she's been through a lot and that her mom was there. So happy to hear she's had something to eat. That's so generous and caring of your vet. You've got such a lovely bond with her and it's going to get even stronger.
Several years ago I pawned jewellery to pay for my hamsters vet bills, all that mattered was my ham and I would do it again if needed. Now I put money aside each month just in case.

Thanks, I'm so glad she feels better today to. I think it may have been strange for her not knowing why she was in pain. She was uncomfortable if I began to stroke her to close to right side of her face. She is an inspiration as she never gave up the fight, she was knocked down but she getting back up stronger. I'm hoping she will be careful after this is over, I don't want her hurting herself again or any more problems.

Thanks, she has always liked a cuddle and company from me I think it because she feels safe and that she knows I will help her. When I saw here eat I was so happy as it shows she feeling better. I also feel our bond is greater, also as on Monday Sherbet came out of her house just before I was going out and then when I saw her I knew something was wrong, I cancelled my plans to take her to the vets, if we left it any later I would have had to have waited till the next day.
That is so nice of you to pawn your jewellery to pay for your hamster vet bills, I would advise everyone to put money aside each week as vet bills can get expensive especially out of hours fees.. I've always like to save my money and spend it on Sherbet, didn't think it would be on vet bills but if it make her better I would pay any amount.
