Unhappy Hunched back

Hey,

My second hamster Haru (Campbell) I got on Monday, from pets at home. I wouldn't normally get a pet from there but he looked so sad on his own. So I couldn't resist him. He is around 6-8 weeks old...you never know with pets at home.

Anyway, I have noticed he walks with a waddle and has a hunched back??? I have never seen this before. I have checked his poops, his poops are fine and I see him eating and drinking.

Should I be worried? Just want to know if I should take him to the vet, but I don't want to stress him out as he is very shy and nervous at the moment.

This is extremely difficult in knowing what to do, but in reality, it could be something really serious. A hamster I rescued showed these signs and he had a buildup of fluid in his spine, ruptured disk or broken back, the vet didn't do an x-ray but he was certain it was one of those. They can get operated on but it's expensive. I think I'd take him to the vets if I was you. Keeping him for longer will possibly worsen the problem, and it will also bond you closer to him, and if it was something serious then it'd be harder to come to terms with. Sorry that this is probably not what you want to hear!

Definitely take him to the vets, it could be other things too, and I really hope he is okay and that's it's nothing too serious. Let us know how he gets on, and best of luck for Haru x

Yeah, I had a look online before I asked here and I didn't find good results there. So I guess I was expecting something bad but hoping for something good.
Right well, I will take him to the vets when I can, possibly tomorrow.
I will also try and take some photos so you can see tomorrow and will give updates!

Thank you for helping

I hope it's nothing serious. I also hope you can get him to the vets at the earliest opportunity.

Good luck

Okay, I didn't have the opportunity to go to the vets today.
I have just come back from work and Haru was awake. While he was rolling in his sand I noticed his chest neck area was red, at a closer look it looks like there is no fur at all and there is blood.
He has been in the sand bath now for 30 mins constantly cleaning and itching and biting himself.

I'm very worried.

Emergency vet. I called out an emergency vet 3 weeks ago and it cost 100 pounds. I don't think that's huge price considering. I understand money can be tight though

Any photos? I know it'll be difficult to get a pic of the little fella but photos will help some of the knowledgeable members give you some sound advice.
