Default Green Poop?!

okay so as i was going to bed (right now) i went to go say goodnight to milo as he was running on his wheel. But as i saw his poop i noticed that a few of them are green. I havent feed him anything that would cause his poop to become green and i don't know what this means so i thought i would ask to make sure this isn't a sign of anything bad or anything

I would definitely suggest taking Milo to the vet as soon as possible. This could be a sign of illness,as you said he did not get any food that could make it green.

Elliiy do you feed any basic hamster food with kibble bits or seeds which are the color green or Blue?? Kaytee Hamster mix is one I am aware of that will change the poops to green when the food dye mixes together in the body.

Also what consistency was the poop that was green? Firm like a normal color poo or kind of soft? If firm I would bet it is just his body getting rid of the useless food dye. If kind of soft then I would agree with AH and a Vet visit to rule out any illnesses as green poop can indicate extra bile being produced do to and infection just starting, or and upset tummy which since Hamsters can't vomit could mean troubles if left unattended.

Side note, you might want to get a better mix if this is your main diet!It does have dyes though, but no green from what I found when skimming over the ingredients. It could be the homemade treats as well, but I'd still just take him to the vet to be sure.

Since you're in California you should be able to get Higgins Sunburst Hamster and Gerbil as well as Mazuri Rat and Mouse lab blocks.I'd say check Petsupermarket for the Higgins since it is a lot cheaper there than it is in Petco, and for Mazuri perhaps look online for better prices or order direct from the manufacturer.Direct from Petco costs around 20 dollars for a mix that lasts over two months though, which isn't horrible, but if there is a cheaper option to get the same food it's always better and leaves room in the budget for extra toys and things!
