Is my hamster injured??
I scooped my hamster up to put him back in his cage tonight after free-ranging, and he ran out of my hands and fell a few inches onto hardwood flooring. He immediately started stretching out his jaw and rubbing his front paws over his face. Then he ran into a corner where I couldn't see him. He came back out after maybe a minute, and I put him in his clear ball to try to see if his mouth was bleeding. I couldn't tell. But, when I put him back in his cage, he was eating just fine and I didn't see any blood on his food. He's running on his wheel now like normal, but I'm still worried. Do you think he's okay?

Re: Is my hamster injured??
It sounds as though he just had a bit of a scare & is probably fine, just keep an eye on him to be sure there's no signs that he's hurt anywhere but it wasn't much of a fall so it shouldn't be a problem.

Re: Is my hamster injured??
Agree with cypher, watch him to make sure but he's probably fine. Quite often when they're a bit stressed or freaked out they will have a manic groom and it's possible that's what he was doing when he was rubbing his face. Like cypher said it wasn't a long drop so don't worry yourself too much over it.

Re: Is my hamster injured??
Thanks, guys! It probably did just scare him. I was worried he might've hurt his cheekpouch or broken a tooth, but he seems fine. It was just weird because he's fallen before and never reacted that way.

Re: Is my hamster injured??
It sounds like shock. I think they do that when they've had a shock/fall xxx

Re: Is my hamster injured??
Okay, that makes sense. He's been eating and his energy level hasn't changed, so I think he's fine. Thank you!
