Re: Found a lump :(
These were questions another forum were asking me about which I called a vet about the pain & said as long as they are eating & drinking they aren't in pain? As I was saying in above post. I have a dwarf hammie so it would be real hard to tell if she's "straining" to pee or not? They said this in case the tumor grew & blocked off the urethra (not sure if I mentioned this or not)?
Sorry about the sad news

Re: Found a lump :(
Update... I've booked an appointment for Obi to be put to sleep this evening :'(
Am in bits. The boys don't know yet as I was hoping to get an appointment at weekend so we could spend a couple of days treating her and getting our heads around losing her. But the vets are pretty much booked up on Saturday so I had to pick an appointment this evening.
The boys (who Obi belongs to) saw her last night to see her condition and so we came to the decision that it would now be kinder to let her go. They hadn't seen her very much over the last couple of days as she's been sleeping so much Even though she's still eating a bit, she has noticeably lost weight and the tumour is now causing her mobility problems including her left back leg has swollen up.
I know deep down it's the right thing to do but feel sick at the thought of it. :'(

Re: Found a lump :(
Sorry for your loss, it came all too suddenly! You did the kindest thing, my WW is still doing well so I have a little more time with her despite her tumor but I'm prepared to have her PTS when her tumor takes over. She fell on her back today into the soft bedding just about 3 inches (she was climbing my sleeve) but I got a good look at her swollen abdomen. Feel bad for you, hope you are ok
It's very sad to realize that they can go downhill so fast

Re: Found a lump :(
I am so very very sorry to hear this news.
Sometimes the kindest gift is to let your little one be at peace and run free. Please take some comfort knowing little Obi will be at peace.
Sleep well Obi. x

Re: Found a lump :(
Thank you all for your kind words.
Obi passed peacefully at the vets on Thursday and though it was heart breaking (and then my heart broke again when my boys, especially my 14 year old, cried their eyes out and clung on to me) it was for the best.
I packed up the cage in tears on Friday while the boys were at school so we don't have to look at it and we had a hammy funeral yesterday in the sunshine. We are going to get a nice plant to go over her grave in memory of her too.
My 10 year old son's friends gave him a sympathy card yesterday too, which was so sweet of them and had me welling up again.
Obi is gone but definitely not forgotten.
Elaine

I am so sorry. The funeral in the sunshine sounds lovely. Crying is good. He was lucky to have so much love from you and your boys and is playing free now, painfree xxx

Re: Found a lump :(
Elaine, I had a cry reading your message, especially about your boys. Bless them for showing their emotions and it's good to cry. I smiled at your 10 year old getting a sympathy card, it shows that all pets whatever their size and type do become a part of the family.
So lovely to give Obi a beautiful funeral in the sunshine. She was so loved by all of you and she knew how much too.
There'll be moments that you'll think of Obi that will make you laugh and cry, grieving affects us in so many ways.
Thinking of all of you xxxx
