Re: Found a lump :(
Good Luck tomorrow and seeing the head vet will answer any questions you have. I know the stress you'll be feeling, it's always worrying when our little ones are unwell. I've got my fingers crossed for you and Obi and sending you both hugs xx

Re: Found a lump :(
Diagnosing Cushing's isn't always easy & what you're seeing could be something else given she has these growths, it must seem like a long wait till you can get her to the vet again tomorrow but try not to jump to any conclusions just yet.
I hope they can help but whatever the outcome you're doing everything you can for her.

Re: Found a lump :(
Just to update you all on how Obi is doing...
She went to the vets on Friday and unfortunately they can't do anymore for her. They've put the lump down as a "malignant growth" so in other words, cancer. The head vet said she isn't a good candidate for surgery given her age and the size of the lump (which is now huge). They did say they don't think the hair loss and sores are Cushing's, just part of the condition to do with the cancer
We are to care for her at home while she is still bright when awake and if she declines we can take her back to be put to sleep. So we are going to enjoy every day we have her with us and spoil her with only the best broccoli
Thank you all for your advise and positive thoughts over the last couple of weeks, its meant a lot!
Elaine

So sad reading this. Make the most of every moment you have with Obi. You're doing the right thing. Spoil her with loads of love, comfort and treats.
Thinking of you xx

Re: Found a lump :(
Sorry to hear this sad news, hope she has many more good days left
Did the vet say anything about pain medication? or to watch to see if she strains to urinate?
Just wondering cause of my WW hammie?
Thank you! Vet said if she's eating and drinking, she's not in any pain?

Re: Found a lump :(
So sorry to hear this. Like everyone said give her loads of TLC and let her eat whatever she wants when the time is nigh. See if she likes pizza!

Cinnamon Bear, to be truthful I forgot to ask about pain levels and relief. It was all a bit to take in at the time. The vet just said that if we thought she was declining and not being as bright/active etc that it would be time to think about letting her go.
She has now finished the course of antibiotics (Baytril) and she now on a course of anti-flammatory drug as the sores were looking angry, however this is a cat drug so she's only on a small dose every other day.
She's still doing ok at the moment and long may it continue Thank you all for your replies and thoughts. xx
