Hi Lexie, I just now saw your post! I'm so happy for your & Nevy that he got to see a specialist! That's a sad video, can see why you love him so much! Will there be a permanent plan to help Nevy or mostly pain management? You definitely made the right decision! Yay you got a good Dr!

What a good vet! I'm so happy Nevy is getting pain relief. Arthritis must be painful and wearing for him - excellent he has some treatment.

Ah, nice to know you got a good vet! Pleased he's sleeping now, it'll do him good and it must mean he's more relaxed for whatever reason. Hope he goes on ok... X

Thanks again all of you for your support.

I went to check on Nevy this morning and found that he had died during the night.

It wasn't a complete shock as last night when I took him out of his nest he didn't move when I disturbed him, even when I picked him up. He was soaking wet and smelled of urine. He lay in my hands and drank a bit of water and his medicine but wouldn't eat a thing. I sponged him down and dried him (at which point he decided he could walk after all) and then after he just lay still on my lap for ages and went to sleep. So I made sure his nest was dry (strangely it was) and placed him back in it.

He was 23 months old. I've been in a state of anxiety over him for the last 10 days so in a way we are both at peace now. Though I am full of grief. He was a darling little hamster and bought me so much joy. I'm going to miss him terribly.

So sad - I'm sorry. I was actually thinking about him today as I remembered when one of my Mum's dogs got bad arthritis and she really suffered and had to be put to sleep. So although it is sad, Nevy is now pain free and playing free - hugs for you.

I'm so sorry Lexieshamster, you tried so hard & did your best for him but he is at peace now with no more suffering, I know that does little to help with the grief but I'm sure it is of some comfort to you.
He had a good long life with you so I can imagine how much you will miss your little guy *hugs*.

Oh no, I can't believe I'm reading this Lexi, so very sorry to hear about Nevy passing during the night. My heart goes out to you and sending you big hugs.
He was so beautiful and wonderful and loved very much.
