Default moving an old hamster

Hiya,
We have a hamster thats about 18 months old that has started to get hairloss on her back, mid-way to hind legs. Theres no swelling and no itching, Shes slowed down a bit but other than that she seems fine in herself.
We need to move her into a different cage, i was thinking of a one level cage to minimise injurys to the bare skin and so she doesn't have trouble with the ladders and tubes to get ger food and water although so far shes doing fine with them.
If i transfer a bit of her old megazorb and bedding to the new cage and the same food bowl, water bottle etc should she have any stress from the move?
I really don't want to kill her from stress whilst moving her, or am i being too worried?

Default Re: moving an old hamster

I have just moved my old girl Buffy from the 3 storey cage she had lived in for over 3 1/2 years into a hamster heaven, I was really worried like you but she couldn't manage the ladders any more and was basically living in the bottom level. She has been in the new cage for over a month now and has gone from strength to strength. I brought all her old toys over and the bedding from her old cage and she hasn't shown any signs of stress. Hope the move goes smoothly for you.
