And poor little Flump has had a strop!
She keeps chewing the bars and when she isn't doing that she is trashing her cage!
Someone is clearly not happy about the lack of attention! My poor baby!

Hope Hugo's going to be alright, you can always just handle Flump in a different room but make sure you wash your hands in between handling them.

You could enjoy Flump before going or doing anything to Hugo and still do a good hot water hand wash before handling Flump.

The description of Hugo's droppings doesn't sound at all like it is wet tail. Sounds to me more like his tummy might be sensitive to something he is being fed. With true wet tail the droppings become liquid in a very short time frame, and the hamster goes from happy and active to grumpy and almost always sleeping hunched up in a corner and not at all interested in moving about. Have you offered Hugo any Probiotics? It may be his digestive tract is lacking a goodly amount of good bacteria so isn't quite digesting properly so food is coming out soft and not as broken down as it should normally be.

Does Hugo have a nasty stink to him or his cage? If not chances are good it is not wet tail at all.

Vet didn't think it was wet tail.
I didnt think it was wet tail either, but I was worried about it turning into wet tail, hence the vet appointment.
Vet has prescribed some probiotics for him so hopefully his gut will sort its self out soon.

He's now very scared the poor thing But he was very well behaved and didnt bite the vet!

Nancy:
Hugo or his cage didn't smell, but the droppings did. They were very round in shape, quite large, but soft. They were light brown in colour too, compared to normal droppings these looked very different.

I do believe you will see good results with the probiotics, I've had this happen with a few of my pups I kept from my 2015 litters(always seemed to be Lizina pups). My Vet tech friend suspected it was the Mom didn't have a high amount of good bacteria in her gut which caused her poop to be low on good bacteria. Pups consume mom's poop, which is the way a pup begins to build up the good bacteria in their guts.
