Water!
Hello everyone
I must say I'm a bit worried about my hamster. I'm not sure she's drinking enough water. Two days ago I put her in a new big cage. With the cage a new water bottle should've arrived, but it did not. The thing is that the new cage is a terrarium, so my old water bottle doesnt fit. While i'm waiting for the new bottle I have put in a tiny bowl with water, but I'm worried she can't figure it out... Do you think she can?? Am I being to worried?

Re: Water!
Hammies don't drink a lot anyway so it can be hard to tell sometimes, I'm sure she'll figure out her bowl for a couple of days. She's probably just being a bit shy while she settles into her new home. You can make an impromptu water bottle stand while you're waiting if you're worried though. You can chop the top of a plastic bottle and a hole for the spout & put the bottle in that, just weight it down with something. Or give her a slice of cucumber for some extra moisture

Re: Water!
Make one of these in the meantime. Glass tanks are not easy anyway to hang a bottle in, although it can be done using Velcro or other DIY methods. Making a bottle stand from an old plastic bottle and weight ot down with pebbles, like this:

Re: Water!
Hams tend to take to bowls easily, it's more natural for them to drink like that anyway! They aren't practical for hamsters for a few reasons which is why most use bottles but I wouldn't worry that your ham isn't drinking enough, they do drink very, very little anyway.
