I'm so sorry she's gone herbi, she is at peace now & that is for the best but I know you must be missing her so much & really feeling the loss now *hugs*
Her time with you was so special & you gave her so much love right up to the end, I'm sure she knew & appreciated just how much you cared for her.

Run free now Willow, play well at the bridge.

Thank you ever so much everyone, I really appreciate your thoughts. Thin Lizzie, impact is a good word! She was such a big character, so strong-willed and freedom-loving but so gentle and sensitive at the same time. A very special little girl. I miss her so much. We spent so much time together and I did my best for her, I know I made lots of mistakes too especially at the start... it was a steep learning curve! I've got great respect for you guys who know so much and have been through this so many times. Yes, Cypher, it's so hard, isn't it. i know you've lost your little ones recently too. I'm finding so many things keep reminding me, my brain hasn't caught up with what's happened and when I go into the bedroom i still automatically check to see if food has gone, or look to see if she's up. Last night i went to check the water bottles and thought, don't be stupid. I ended up taking them off, and then today got a terrible lurch walking in and thinking help, no water bottles, some part of me thinking they'd dropped off and she'd go thirsty. And there's stuff from yesterday like the grater from the carrot i gave her which was the last thing she had. I dunno, it's so hard. I buried her today in my garden, under a flower someone gave me at Christmas, it's bright and cheerful and seems to suit her. Thanks Velma, I was so relieved going to the vet's wasn't too traumatic for her... I was dreading taking her and feared i was doing the wrong thing for her, I was shaking when i said goodbye but it really was as quick and peaceful as it could have been. i hope she knew how much i cared.. She was a difficult hamster in that she still never let me really hold her or stroke her, although towards the end she would let me cup my fingers round her gently while she zoomed through my hands on her way somewhere! But when she was familiar with our routine she'd happily come and sit next to me and then climb up my arms to get back in her cage, or dive off the top into my hands. My room is basically a huge hamster playroom, when I do her memorial I'll try and post a pic of the aftermath of owning Willow! She truly turned the place upside down. I don't really want to start clearing up.....

Take your time herbi, we all do things at a different pace & I find it different with each ham that goes to the bridge, sometimes it helps to clear things away quickly other times it has taken me weeks to put things away or clean cages, just do things as & when it feels right for you.

Thanks. I took her hammocks down yesterday and took her bowls out as I think those things in particular kept making me feel she was still there. I gave the boys her tuff tubes she had in my room... In her most destructive chewing places to distract her! They're now in the playpen, i'll see if Bailey likes them tonight. It feels so quiet.

herbi, I`m sorry I missed this posting as I`ve been busy on other sites lately and havn`t read everyone`s posts. Willow sounded very special and grief takes time. Your boys will help you through that. I`ve replied to your other post regarding the wood and heating temps. Hope it`s helpful. x

Thanks RH, yes she was a special little character and quite a challenge! I did my best for her and worried a lot too! I've been having a massive clear-out since I found those little bugs, I don't want anything hanging around that could cause probs with the boys. I've been involved in rehoming a couple of stray cats who were visiting regularly so I guess they could be a source of pests too... Serious spring cleaning coming up and treating of carpets etc. Helps to have stuff to do. In the end I did stick the wood in the oven, I'm in all aft and I like a chance to experiment. Those bugs better b dead when it comes out! Yuck. Thanks for hugs, Candice. I'm a mixture of a whirlwind of cleaning and sitting like a zombie, remembering stuff.
